Our Love Story
How It All Began
Evelyn's Story
My not-so-first encounter with Oreoluwa was in November at the
church car park, but I wouldn't exactly say I 'noticed' him. It
wasn't until our December youth camp that I became more aware of
his presence. A few weeks later, in January 2022, he sent me a
message about a scholarship opportunity related to my field. It
was thoughtful and kind, and our friendship began to grow from
there. Our conversations were always meaningful about life,
purpose, and walking closely with God...

there. Our conversations were always meaningful about life,
purpose, and walking closely with God. I appreciated his
sincerity, his calmness, and his depth. As we chatted, our
conversations flowed effortlessly, and we discovered shared
values and passions. We became fast friends, supporting each
other's growth and development. Our friendship blossomed into a
beautiful accountability partnership, where we encouraged each
other spiritually, mentally, and even in our reading habits(He
even bought me books to encourage me😃).
By March that year, he had started mentoring me in some areas of
personal development, and I could see that he genuinely cared
about my progress. His consistency, humility, and godly mindset
stood out. In early 2023, when he asked to meet and expressed
his intentions, I wasn't surprised but I knew I had to be sure
it was God's will. I took time to pray and seek confirmation,
because marriage, to me, is not just about love ,it's about
destiny and purpose. When I finally got the assurance I needed,
I said yes peacefully and joyfully. Our relationship has been a
truly enriching experience. Oreoluwa is not just my partner;
he's my best friend. He's thoughtful, disciplined, and kind. He
makes me feel supported and valued, and I thank God for making
our paths cross in such a divine way. Truly, God's timing and
design are perfect and I'm grateful to be walking this journey
of faith and love with him.
Oreoluwa's Story
I am truly favored to have Evelyn as my fiancée. I've always
believed that God is intentional about every detail of my life
including choosing the right partner just as He gave me breath
before I ever asked for it. I first saw Evelyn one Sunday
afternoon in late 2021 at our church in Ilorin, where I was
conducting fieldwork for my Master's research. Our first real
conversation came a few weeks later during the Annual Youth Camp
Meeting in December, where she served as the Vice President of
the Young Adults Fellowship. It was just a brief chat, no spark,
no expectations but something about her stood out...

before I ever asked for it. I first saw Evelyn one Sunday

conducting fieldwork for my Master's research. Our first real
conversation came a few weeks later during the Annual Youth Camp
Meeting in December, where she served as the Vice President of
the Young Adults Fellowship. It was just a brief chat, no spark,
no expectations but something about her stood out. In 2022,
while she was in her final undergraduate year, I came across a
research scholarship that I thought could benefit her. I found
her contact in our fellowship WhatsApp group and sent it to her
and a few others. That simple gesture began a friendship that
grew naturally. From our very first chat, I had a quiet feeling
that we'd become close though I didn't know how close.
We often talked about life, purpose, and building a
Christ-centered future. By March, our conversations had evolved
into a mentor-mentee relationship. She would share her progress
on personal development, and our communication became deeper and
more consistent. The bond grew gently and genuinely. By August
2022, I began to sense the Holy Spirit leading me to see her as
more than a friend. I prayed, reasoned, and sought God's
guidance — and soon realized she could be the woman He had
prepared for me. I liked her, admired her, and saw a beautiful
mix of purpose, grace, and humility. That same month, work took
me away from Ilorin for several months. Yet even from a
distance, I kept praying. Our friendship continued, and I began
to sense she might also feel the same way though I waited for
clarity. When I returned to Ilorin in January 2023, I knew it
was time.
I invited her for a friendly meetup and, after some laughter and
catching up, I told her my intentions. She appreciated my
honesty but asked for more time to pray. She later shared that
she had also been praying about us but wanted further
confirmation. By March 2023, she returned with peace in her
heart and that's how our courtship began, in the Lord's name.
Since then, it's been a journey of love, faith, laughter, and
growth. Every step has revealed more reasons to thank God for
bringing Evelyn into my life. She's more than I prayed for,
truly a gift of grace. All I needed to do was trust God and wait
patiently, and He wrote our story perfectly.
